Hey there! I am so excited to share with you our latest vlog episode. We are taking a tour of the Kerry James Marshall exhibition at the Rennie Museum, which is located in one of the oldest buildings in Chinatown, Vancouver, and it’s happening on Halloween!
Come join us on this enlightening tour as we celebrate the work of an artist who has made a significant impact in the art world. We will explore the importance of representation and inclusivity in art, and learn about Marshall’s incredible contribution to the artistic world.
Our tour guide, Troy, is extremely knowledgeable and will be leading us through Marshall’s incredible works. We will discover the significance of Marshall’s representation of black bodies in Western art, and how his art aims to address the lack of black people in classical painting.
Marshall is a bold and outspoken artist who fearlessly put his foot down in his curating, and we’ll delve into his work spanning over three decades. We’ll get to explore his iconic piece “Past Times,” which was sold for an astounding $21 million to P Diddy.
Troy gives us ample time to explore the exhibition at our own pace, and we had the opportunity to ask her any questions we might have. I hope you’re as excited as we are to delve into the world of Kerry James Marshall and explore his incredible artistic legacy.
So sit back, relax, and let’s get started on this unforgettable tour!
